Junior artist MF Kapil, who was working in the film, died during the shooting of Rishabh Shetty starrer film Kantara 2. While the production team is calling it an accident, AICWA (All India Cine Workers Association) has demanded strict action in this matter.
According to the report, Kapil died on 6 May 2025 due to drowning in the Souparnika river. According to the film’s producer Rishabh Shetty, the Kapil had swam in the river, but he died. It is being told that after the lunch break, Kapil went to swim in the river Sauparnika of Kallur, but was swept away in the fast flow. The Fire Department and the local administration immediately started the rescue operation and their body was recovered in the evening. In this case, an FIR has been registered at Kallur police station and investigation is on.

Appealed to investigate all possible causes Aicwa has appealed to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to investigate the matter properly. The association has expressed deep concern over frequent deaths on film sets. The association says that there have been accidents during films like Indian 2 and Sardar 2 before and the death of 20 junior artists in the bus accident in last November was also not shown properly. Aicwa fears that the real cause of Kapil’s death has not been fully revealed. The association has appealed to investigate all possible causes.
Aicwa alleged that the real causes of such incidents are often hidden in the film industry and those who try to highlight the truth are threatened. The association says that such black exploits should now be abolished and Kapil’s family should get justice.
Association demands 1 crore compensation to family Aicwa has appealed to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to investigate the fair and high levels of the matter. The association has also demanded to register an FIR against Rishabh Shetty and his production house. Along with this, Aicwa has demanded the makers of Kantara 2 to give compensation of Rs 1 crore to Kapil’s family.
Kantara’s first part came in the year 2022
Significantly, this is not the first time that the accident occurred on the set of Kantara 2. Shortly before, while returning from the shooting location, a bus carrying junior artists was overturned and the set was also damaged by strong thunderstorms. Kantara 2 is the second part of the Kantara series. The first part of Kantara came in the year 2022 and it earned tremendous at the box office. Kantara 2 is the prequel of this series.
