Battery, range and charging time
Starting with the new MG Comet EV, it gets a smaller battery pack, with a capacity of 17.3 kWh. The company claims that once it is fully charged, the electric car can be driven up to 230 km. At the same time, Tata Tiago EV comes with two different battery pack options, in which MIDC certified range is available from 250 to 315 kilometers.
Talking about charging, MG Comet EV has a 3.3 kW charger, which claims to fully charge the car in 7 hours. At the same time, Tata claims that both the battery pack options of Tiago EV take about 6.9 to 8.7 hours to charge 10-100%. However, the MG Comet EV does not have fast charging capability, unlike the Tata Tiago EV.
Power
Comet EV has a rear mounted single electric motor, which generates maximum power of 42 PS and peak torque of 110 Nm. In contrast, the Tata Tiago EV has a front-mounted electric motor. Tiago produces maximum power of 75 PS and peak torque output of 114 Nm. According to the company’s claims, the long range version of Tiago EV can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in 5.7 seconds. MG has not disclosed this figure of Comet EV.
Dimensions
Unlike the Tiago EV, the MG Comet EV is smaller and comes with a 2-door design. However, it is the tallest. At the same time, Tata Tiago EV is longer and wider and also has a longer wheelbase. The Comet EV gets a small boot, the capacity of which is yet to be revealed. Tiago EV has a boot space of 240 liters.
price
MG Comet EV is currently being sold at an introductory price between Rs 7.98 lakh to Rs 9.98 lakh (ex-showroom). Offer is valid for initial 5,000 customers only. Whereas, the price of Tata Tiago EV currently starts from Rs 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom).
