Filmmaker Nikhil Advani, in his recent interview, talked about his feud with Karan Johar and leaving Dharma Productions. He told why ultimately there was a rift between him and Karan. However, both of them later resolved their dispute.
Nikhil Advani said in a conversation with Digital Commentary, ‘I had left Dharma Productions because I was upset. Karan and I had a fight. Some people were saying that I had directed all three of his biggest hit films, while some were saying that I had not directed ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’. There was a lot of confusion and anger.
Nikhil further said, ‘We are still very close. Luckily after 20 years we have left everything behind. We both have grown up. We have understood that films are films and life is life. I was very close to his father. There were no creative differences between us, rather it was more of an emotional conflict. How can you listen to other people who are saying this about me? My whole thing was that people are not giving me credit for one love story, so I will make six love stories.
According to Nikhil Advani, when his films were flopping, people from the industry stopped picking up his phone and talking to him. There were differences in the relationship between him and John Abraham. Nikhil said, ‘John and I had drifted apart. I did not talk to Anil Kapoor and Govinda for 10 years. When John and I meet, we don’t talk about the industry or films. We talk about things like politics, food and fitness.
