The accused were caught by the police
Amritsar Police has arrested two youths from Jalandhar and Kapurthala. Who had kidnapped a Sri Lankan boy and girl in the name of sending them abroad and demanded ransom. The police arrested both of them within 24 hours of the incident.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that Sri Lankan resident of Neelujitan told that he had come to visit India on December 2 with his friends Jahan, Karabika, Lalit Piyantha, Kanishk and Sumardhan. He met Asitha, a Sri Lankan youth in Delhi whom he did not know before. Asitha told Nilujitan that he would get her a work visa for Albania. After which all his friends agreed for the work visa.
After this Asitha took him to meet two other people. Who took 3000 dollars to get the visas for all five of them. After that, both of them got a call that on 27th December they were told that the visas of two men, Kanishk (girl) and Sumardhan, had been approved and they should come to Amritsar with them.
Called from Delhi to Amritsar
After which, on 29th December, he reached Amritsar, from where he along with his companions Kanishka (girl) and Sumardhan left by car in the night itself. The next day he made a video call that he would kill both of them, otherwise he would be given 8000 Euros.
After which Neelujitan reached Rambagh police station in Amritsar and informed the police about the matter. The police immediately came into action and started the action. Tracing the mobile phones of the accused, the police reached Hoshiarpur area and with the help of Hoshiarpur police arrested two accused from Jalandhar rural area.
Car used in kidnapping recovered
The accused have been identified as Ankit, resident of Kapurthala and Inderjit Singh, resident of Jalandhar. Police said that Ankit has come to India after being deported from abroad, while the police said that they have yet to arrest one more accomplice.
At present the police say that the citizens who came from Sri Lanka are safe and the police have started action against the accused. Police have also recovered the car used at the time of kidnapping. Cases are already registered against the accused.
