Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya is always known for his outspokenness. Recently, in an interview, he called Mahatma Gandhi the ‘Father of the Nation of Pakistan’, which has created a controversy. Now a legal notice has been sent to him in this matter. Actually, Abhijeet had said that Mahatma Gandhi was the father of the nation, not of India but of Pakistan.
According to media reports, Pune lawyer Aseem Sarode has sent a legal notice to Abhijeet Bhattacharya demanding an apology. Aseem Sarode said that Abhijeet Bhattacharya will have to give a written apology for his statement. If they do not do so, legal action will be taken against them.
The legal notice also states that Gandhiji worked hard to maintain unity between Hindus and Muslims and spread the ideas of brotherhood. When there was talk of dividing India into two parts, Mahatma Gandhi had said, if India is divided, it will be over my dead body. I will never accept the partition of India as long as I am alive.
Know what is the whole matter? Abhijeet Bhattacharya had appeared in Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast. During this time he had said, ‘Music composer RD Burman was greater than Mahatma Gandhi. Just as Mahatma Gandhi was the Father of the Nation, similarly RD Burman was the Father of the Nation in the world of music.
He had further said, ‘Mahatma Gandhi was the father of the nation of Pakistan, not India. India was already India, but Pakistan was created. Mahatma Gandhi was mistakenly described as the Father of the Nation here (India). He was the one who gave birth. Father was that, grandfather was that, maternal grandfather was that…everything was the same.
